Two weeks past Surgery

Its been two weeks past Surgery. I was advised 20 days of rest.
However I will be back to office this week.

It would be a real discomforting to walk with the crutches to office
and not sure how I would manage things. However we have to get on to the routine of the life.

Operated on ACL Ligament Tear

Here is the ACL surgery Video.

It’s been quite a delay for my ACL surgery. Had been advised a complete ROM before the surgery. Finally the day came for the surgery on 3rd Sep 2008.

I got admitted myself for the surgery at HOSMAT, Bangalore.
HOSMAT has been a one of the leading hospitals for Knee Surgery in Bangalore and decided to get operated after consulting other leadings hospitals.

The Surgery is done using a arthroscopic method.

The doctor replaces the damaged ACL with strong, healthy tissue. A strip of tendon from under your knee cap (patellar tendon) was used.

The doctor threads the tissue through the inside of your knee joint with the arthroscopic method, without opening the knees and secures the end to your thighbone and shinbone.

The entire operation can be seen by the patient on the television.

I was given a shot of Anesthesia which numbs the lower part of body. I could not feel a bit of sensation during the whole operation. I was able to view certain parts of my surgery through the Television camera. Technology has improved a lot these days and the procedure of ACL surgery has changed a lot.

The entire operation lasted for few hours and I had the effect of numbness for few hours after the surgery.

My surgery is postponed till further date

Surgery Postponed
Well the news is that the surgery is postponed till further date.. All's not well with my knee recovery.. The doctors want me to attain a certain degree of flexibility pre operation so that the recovery could be faster and better results. The painfull session of physiotherapy has to be continued.. These sessions are very very discomfarting because of intense pain..
The pain is due to partial tear of menicus ligament which is delaying the process..However have to continue with the session.. One complete ligament tear, other a partial and then a fracture.. all seems to have slowed down the recovery ... Life seems to be a painfull process when these things happen.. However have to recover before my marriage.. I am not sure if I would get operated before marriage as that might mean a further delay in the marriage.. Hope is only a solution right now..

April 27th.
I am all set for a surgery at HOSMAT for my left knee and this would mean a month more of rest and also would mean a No pay for the month as I have exhausted my leaves…I would be updating once am discharged from the hospital and ready to continue my blog site.

April 21st.
My second visit to the hospital for the treatment. This time Doctor suggested few exercises to strengthen my left knee.. I was advised to bent my knee and then test my knee for a week and then would suggest a surgery in a week’s time.

What is ACL injury

What is an anterior cruciate ligament tear?
The anterior cruciate ligament is one of four primary ligaments around the knee joint. It is an important stabilizer of the knee. The ACL can be injured by trauma or sporting activities. If the ligament is completely torn, it will not heal.

Had a Fall from my Hondo Activa

So am updating this blog again after a gap of few months..

April 29th - 2008
The day started well. My wouldbe had been in bangalore to purchase the marriage Saree's and also we had been to many places to choose the perfect saree for the wedding. I must say that it is not an easy choice to choose the right one. Finally she selected the one she liked.

All was well and I was returning to my house at around 11.30 pm and it was raining no so heavy. Suddenly had to apply break at a hump which I was unable to see and thereby could not control my vehicle. The vehicle landed on my left knee and i felt a heavy load and my leg was twisted and tossed. Those seconds are quite difficult to forget. The pain was intense.. Fortunately few people helped me and somehow reached my house. The distance to the house was not so far. I knew that something terrible happened to my knee and hence rushed to the local hospital.

April 30th
I had an x-ray taken and a fracture was noticed on my knee. However Since the pain was intense on the knee; they had suggested a MRI scan. Meanwhile I had informed my wouldbe family about my accident and everybody was tense about my injury and whether the marriage would be postponed.

Few days later the MRI scan was done. This completely shattered all our plans of the marriage. The MRI reported a complete tear of ligament. I was not sure what it really meant. Doctors advised a complete rest to my knee for 6 weeks as the other ligaments had to heal and then would decide whether to operate my left knee.

This meant that we had to postpone the marriage till my knee would be healed. Mentally it put us a lot of stress on both the families. I am sure people would understand what it means to postpone the marriage.
